Employer

NAME:  Lisa Fugate

ORGANIZATION:  Lisa Office of Lisa L. Fugate

WHAT HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST BENEFIT OF PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM?  Receiving an outstanding Employee who has been a great benefit to my office!

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR BUSINESSES SIGNING UP FOR THE PROGRAM?  Accept the opportunity of having an individual placed with you because it will truly be a blessing to your business if you do! When KCEOC first called me about placing Mr. Burnett at my office, I was very hesitant. My initial thought was I do not want a high school senior who will not take the position serious. However, shortly after Mr. Burnett began working for me, I was pleasantly surprised and grateful for his employment at my office. He exceeded every expectation I had of him and has truly been a great benefit to my office.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR STUDENTS APPLYING FOR JOBS IN OUR AREA?  Be professional. When an employer first meets you, they judge you on appearance and personality. We will not hire someone who is unfriendly, rude, or comes in dressed inappropriately for the job. Also, do not be intimidated at the initial interview because as an employer, we subconsciously make the decision whether to hire you or not at the initial meeting. First interviews can be very intimidating and place you outside your comfort zone, but have confidence in yourself, and be professional, and you may get hired.

WHAT GOALS DO YOU HAVE WITH YOUR BUSINESSES INVOLVEMENT WITH KCEOC?  My goal is to show the student all angles of the legal field, in hopes that it will help them decide whether the legal field is the right career path for them. In doing so, if I gain an excellent employee in the process, then that is just an added bonus!
